Deepak Jeevan Kumar

Partner at General Catalyst

My mission in life is to accelerate entrepreneurial innovation in the challenging domain of enterprise infrastructure. Having personally designed large-scale distributed systems for some of the world’s fastest supercomputers, I know how to be the best-in-class cheerleader and the leverage point for entrepreneurs who are looking to change the worlds of cybersecurity, big data, storage and data center management.

At General Catalyst, I work closely with AltiscaleDataGravityIllumioMenlo SecurityOGSystemsRunscope, ThreatStream, and Virtual Instruments. In the past, I was involved with Push Computing (acquired by MobileIron – NASDAQ: MOBL).

Prior to General Catalyst, I spent many years at Sun Microsystems as one of the lead supercomputing architects, shipping grid computing products for the bioinformatics industry and traveling the world educating researchers on distributed systems. I also enjoyed a brief stint as an intern at the Yale Investments Office learning the fundamentals of primary investing.

I graduated with an MBA from Yale University, an SM in Computer Science from the Singapore-MIT Alliance and a B.Eng in Computer Engineering from the National University of Singapore. I am originally from India, but now live in the charming city of San Francisco.
